Elementary RE Pre-K to 5th

Religious Education classes are offered twice a week at St. John's beginning in late August and ending in mid-April.  You may choose either Sunday morning or Wednesday evening classes.  All classes last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.  Four-year olds through the 5th graders meet for Religious Education on Sunday mornings from 10:15 a.m. until 11:20 a.m. or Wednesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.

Sacramental preparation for Penance and First Communion is part of the second grade curriculum.  Parents of these students are encouraged to attend parent classes held during the year.

Vacation Bible School is held for children 4 years of age through the 4th grade one week each June.

Religious Education office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  The RE office is located on the first floor of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School.

Vacation Bible School Committment

The St. John's Elementary Religious Education Program presents Vacation Bible School each summer for a week during June.  It is for children who have just completed grades Pre-K through 4th and is held from 9:00 - 11:45 AM each day.

Commitment:

VBS is run by faithful individuals with a deep concern for children.  Adults, high school, and junior high school students are needed each summer to be part of the St. John’s Vacation Bible School Team. Small groups, games, snacks, crafts, music, and decorations are the areas in which adult and teen support is needed. Whether you help all five days, or only one or two, your support is welcome. Consider being part of this week of fun, faith, and friendship!

What We Do:

Present a week long program that provides solid Bible content and Catholic values that will attract children and lead them into a relationship with God and encourage their growth in the Catholic Christian faith.

Time and Training Required:

There will be a series of VBS organizational meetings, in which preparation for VBS will occur as well as a couple of Saturday workdays to make decorations, craft kits, etc.  During the week of VBS there is the opportunity to work in one of the stations (ex. Craft, Bible story) or lead a particular grade level group.

Helpful Attributes:

Adults and teens who are excited about sharing their faith during a week of fun that will include Bible stories, crafts, games, snacks, and singing.
