As we begin the new fiscal year, I want to provide you with a brief update on some important changes to our organizational structure at St. John's.
As Pastor of St John the Baptist one of my goals is to ensure that we provide the best, comprehensive, Catholic formation possible for our congregation from our youngest in Religious Education and at the grade school level through middle school and high school, to our young adults and beyond. We always have the care and education of all parishioners in mind. With this understanding, Deacon George and I have decided our parish would be a church ready for the 2030 seamless educational programming being prepared at the Archdiocesan level. This new direction has resulted in a restructuring of our Formation Pillar.
First and foremost, these changes are not about cutting positions- they do not mean people were doing the wrong things. However it is time for us to evolve. Transforming our parish and continually improving our programs have become imperative to St. John's growth. While this realignment won't necessarily address all of our goals, it will place us in a better position to achieve them.
Over the course of July, the positions of DRE for Elementary Religious Education, DRE for Youth, Youth Minister and Administrative Assistant for this area will be eliminated. Listed below are the positions that will be available within our new structure:
- Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Formation and Missionary Discipleship. This full-time position will be responsible for middle school, high school, and young adults.
- Coordinator of Elementary Faith Formation and Sacramental Preparation (First Communion, First Reconciliation & Confirmation). This is a full-time position.
- Administrative Assistant for the Formation Pillar. This is a part-time position.
Employees whose positions were eliminated will have the option to be considered for these newly created roles.
We are extremely grateful for the contributions made by each of these individuals.
While I realize that change is sometimes difficult, it is essential. The adjustments we are making will put us in the best position to deliver quality programs to our congregation.
St. John's is a great parish. I know I can count on each of you to continue sharing your time and talents in our formation ministries. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated as we embark on this transition towards our long term success.
