Our purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 years of age, or 13 years of age and have completed the eighth grade, and under 21 years of age, regardless of previous Scouting or outdoor experience.
What We Do:
Encourage the development of leadership and life skills through participation in high adventure camping activities, shooting sports, water sports. Recognition level: Up to Eagle Scout and Venturing Silver Award.
Time & Training Required:
Attend 2 meetings per month on the 2nd and 3rd Monday evenings. Oversee 1 youth developed and led campout and community activity per quarter. Note that adults do not lead the youth. Adults are expected to mentor, counsel and advise the Venturers as they learn the Scouting and life skills needed to achieve the Venturing Ranger and Silver Awards as well as Eagle Scout for male Venturers under 18 years of age. The youth members plan, originate and coordinate all Crew activities under an adult Advisor or skills Consultant.
