Back to School

Hello, Middle Schoolers!

I am excited to spend my tenth year of teaching at St. Elizabeth's!  We are going to do many fun activities and continue our studies in literature and grammar.  I hope you had a fabulous summer and I can't wait to hear all about it.

In 6th grade, we are going to begin with a unit about participating in group discussions.  Our grammar focus will be on proper case, intensive pronouns, clear antecedents, reflexive pronouns, and pronoun number and person agreement.

7th grade will kick the year off learning about text structure.  We will analyze text structure, its purpose, and how authors use text structure to organize the development of their ideas.

8th grade will practice producing effective sentences within a clear and coherent paragraph in which the development, organization, style, and language are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.  Our grammar focus will be on Phrases & Clauses (function of verbals).

Don't forget to check RenWeb for your assignments if you are absent or are curious about a due date.

Here's to another exciting year!
