The Stations of the Cross depict the Passion of Christ from the time He was condemned to death until He was laid in the tomb. Typically, we pray the Stations of the Cross on Fridays during Lent. As we mature in our prayer life and deepen our relationship with the Lord, we often spend time reflecting on the Passion trying to grasp the magnitude of unconditional love given to us by the Father and to gain a deeper understanding of the suffering we encounter through the perspective of the Passion.
Some experience this deepening by regularly praying the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary, others pray the Stations of the Cross. For those who would like to meditate on the Passion in smaller increments, meditating daily on one station will cover all the stations in the course of two weeks.
